We have become content to be comfortable, a malaise that is not only in the pulpit but also in the pew. The key to national revival does not lie with Hazelwood, Toronto or anywhere else, it lies in each local church fulfilling the great commission where they are.
Our problem today is we spend all our time defining who we are and what our purpose is and what our challenges are and we never just get down to doing what we are supposed to be doing. No national governing body or definition can change that.
There is a large group of our constituency who are cultural pentecostals. It's all they know and they have much of the "stuff" down pat - but lack the fire and fervency to change the world.
Great comments True North.

I don't think that I could agree with you more

According to a source very close to the previously mentioned western epicentre there is nothing afloat from this quarter.

However, I have a sneaking suspicion that what I was told last night is not neccesarily 100% accurate. As has been documented here earlier there have been some letters written but now these letters are being denied.

Don't worry Maple leaf I will get to the bottom of it if I have to camp out on the door step of the Royal Palace.

Your source is pretty accurate.
A letter and survey were sent out. Meetings were held. Everybody's sort of happy. Hopefully end of story for immediate future.

If the ACOP can do it, so can the UPCC! We have a very nice headquarters building purchased in the last 6 years or so and a full time staff of 4 plus a part time Missions Director.

Good points!!

I agree with you but I also think that as a whole we would have more of a forward thrust across our nation if we could for sure define who we really are. I am of the persuasion that a clearly defined purpose would unify us in some dimensions.

Are we just a "legal enity" or are we the church?

UPCC up until this point has been just a legal entity. I'm not sure I want it to be any more than that.
Even if we redefine what the UPCC is I don't see what difference it will make. Home Missions would still be the domain of the district and its director. The difference would be that it would probably be working with less money. When the District Home Missions Director is motivated and inspires others to get out into the field the work of evangelizing new territory goes ahead.

BTW, we already have a clearly defined purpose "The whole gospel to the whole world"

Official Spokesman of the UPCC

I would like to nominate this unemployed Canadian for the job of official spokesman for the new UPCC.

If you have any questions about the official positions of the UPCC, just ask him. (eg. If you want proof for the praying hair doctrine, just ask him.)
