disclaimer notice: I have come to fully understand the open-door for foolish, even lascivious bahavior that can be associate with public community mixied bathing swiming pools but......

As a young male (10-12) getting the seemingly drop-dead gorgeous 10th grader life guard wet by doing can-openers and "seaters" off the high dive was enough to occupy an entire summer.

If I could count the number of times my back and belly were BEET-RED from being stung by a poorly executed entry into the water from a 15' high dive, and all the while, just hoping for one drop of water to reach the life guard, even though it meant you were beached until she had her shift change.

I remember when my mom would be in town and forgot her checkbook that she would send me in the store to get a check out of the counter checkbook the store had for the only bank in town.

My mom would fill out the check with name, address, account number and all because it was just a blank check with the banks name on it and he would accept it.

Those days are G-O-N-E.

My mother wouldn't let us wear bikinis so she would buy the swimsuits with the pretty long tops that fasten around the neck with a gold choker. Of course, the beaded chains around the waist were in, soooo, when she drove off I took off the top! How was she going to know?
