Neckstadt, the events you described are still alive in the upci, however the good news is that element is not as prevelant today as it was 15-20 years ago. I tell my kids how jealous I am of them. The upci church my family attends is the best upci church in a 2 hour area. I've been to every upci church in the area multiple times. I tell my kids all the time we are blessed to be right where we are. I wish I attended a church like ours when I was their age.

Don't know many 11 year old girls who in the middle of a 21 day Daniel fast, 3 days with food then turns around and leads her basketball team in scoring and assists in a phenominal win over a rival team.

Don't know many 13 year old boys who would put all of his birthday money in the offering plate and participate in the 21 day Daniel fast.

There are upci churches which are getting their priorities in order. That scares those who hold on to the status quo. If the Good Old Gosple Ship wasn't changing its course back to the cross, the Tulsa Tango would not have been scheduled.

Denominational labels are only for the insecure. Labels paint us into corners God never intended for us to be in. It's not the name on the door that matters, but the Name which saves which matters.

When one takes the labels off, one can get to be a witness to 250 people at a Halloween party. One can accept free television advertising offered by owners of the local television station. One can invite the community to a free Thanksgiving Day dinner and have people from other denominational churches offer to serve the church staff dinner when the community day dinner is over.

When one takes the labels off, kids are able to present the power and love of Jesus Christ openly in the classroom, on the ball diamond, on the basketball court. There is hardly a game that goes by where the topic doesn't get around to God and/or church.

When one takes off the labels one would not be afraid to pray with a drunk in a catholic church in the middle of the afternoon. One isn't afraid to spend their lunch hour in a catholic church to connect with God.

It's funny how much God moves when stop hiding behind the skirt of denominationalism.
