Well, I happen to, again, agree with Thomas Sowell who is black.
Quote:
There is no point in dressing like a hoodlum when you are not a hoodlum, even though that has become a fashion for some minority youths, including the teenager who was shot and killed in a confrontation in Florida.
People have a right to dress any way they want to, but exercising that right is something that requires common sense, and common sense is something that parents should have, even if their children don't always have it.
Many years ago, when I was a student at Harvard, there was a warning to all the students to avoid a nearby tough Irish neighborhood, where Harvard students had been attacked. It so happened that there was a black neighborhood on the other side of the Irish neighborhood that I had to pass through when I went to get my hair cut.
I never went through that Irish neighborhood dressed in the style of most Harvard students back then. I walked through that Irish neighborhood dressed like a black working man would be dressed -- and I never had the slightest trouble the whole three years that I was at Harvard.
While I had a right to walk through that tough neighborhood dressed in a Brooks Brothers suit, if I wanted to -- and if I could have afforded one, which I couldn't -- it made no sense for me to court needless dangers.

Your husband is mistaken.
There is a racial part to this, but it's not the main part of the story and MOST Americans realize this.

Again, Martin is dead ultimately because of the way he was dressed-- that's the argument if you follow it out.
Similar to the argument, well if that chick didn't dress like a whore, she wouldn't have been raped in the first place.
She was treated like she appeared. Don't judge the raper for treating the whore exactly like she was dressed.
Of course, this is baloney!
Very few would justify rape like this, but we want to justify murder like this?

That would seem to be a natural outcome. This is not a gun tot'in white Republican from Arkansas.

Nope.
America has changed and is changing.
The PUBLIC outrage is not limited to blacks and there are just as many Hispanics and whites outraged too.
Still, most of the "skeptics" happen to be white.
For every Sowell, Oliver, Geraldo and white skeptic, there are 30,000 Americans of all races who are PUBLICLY outraged-- as we ought to be.

He was out of breath and moving-- even commented about not knowing where that kid is, to imply he was looking for him because he couldn't see him.
We have Martin's phone record that prove he was on the phone with his girlfriend at 7:15pm-- just like she said.
We have 1 of the other 911 calls that started at 7:16-- to report a fight.
If Martin was on the phone at 7:15 with his girlfriend, expressing his concern about being followed, then at 7:16 he was in a fight, and zim's call ended at 7:12 with him complaining that he could not see the kid and that he wanted the police to call him when they arrived so he could tell them his location, CIRCUMSTANTIALLY it's established that zim followed Martin (because he was looking for him) and it is not a big stretch to believe that zim started the confrontation that led to Martin's death.
His truck was parked at a fixed location, right? Because zim was on foot, right? So why not tell the dispatch to have the police meet me back at my truck, parked at XYZ location.

Pressing On,
Please remind your husband that historically, it was whites who had the problem with blacks and not the other way around.

Stand your ground? You might end up in a fight and dead.
Run away from this unofficial man who is following you? You might end up pursued and dead.
Seriously, you seem so determined to make his death his fault. What do you want him to do. At the beginning of the 911 call, Zimmerman said he eventually started looking at him following him and was coming his way, then he ran away and Zimmerman got out to give chase. What would you have him do?
|
I wouldn't have started running. If he wasn't guilty of something, why was he running? Why didn't he say, "Hey, wut's up?" and then explain who he was visiting? Give Zimmerman some proof of the apartment number. Why is that so hard for him to do?

That has nothing to do with the apartment complex and community getting tired of the race baiting. It's going to stoke some flames and Zimmerman was Hispanic. That's going to tick some people off.
