It's Houston's new avatar... Many very disturbed people put up pics of themselves with dark rimmed eyes because they believe they look 'cool' or evil or shocking... Have a look at the facebook pics of Alyssa Bustamante the 18 year old who was just sentenced for murdering her 9 year old neighbor (when Alyssa was only 15). She is just one example of 'psycho eyes' pics.
His pic seems like that... showy and creepy. It's a free country and I'm over it but I was just mentioning to him that it might not be how he desires to be seen... or it might... but either way that was the effect, at least for me.

I don't know of anyone who bows down and serves their Christmas tree as a god. It's just a seasonal decoration. (Something a pagan would find offensive.) Lol

I've never accused anyone here of worshiping trees Aquila, I've simply stated that in times past there were those who worshiped trees and did decorate them to do so and that even today with the revival of Paganism there are those who again worship trees by decorating them. Of course you already know my objections to Christmas and I have no desire to turn this in to another Holiday thread... But in case you have forgotten I'll sum up.
I believe that Christmas, the way it is celebrated in this country today, does nothing to add to the story of Jesus or the Kingdom and in some ways takes away from the story of Jesus Christ by making the Christians who celebrate it with our current traditions look by turns, historically inaccurate, silly and superstitious as well as greedy and gluttonous. Done.

Or, "bowing down and serving." Aquila? I would say this characterizes most of the people in America? "Christians" included. Heck, ME included, until just recently, although I never got way into it. But I have only recently become holier than thou here, so pardon...

I personally chose to remove myself from that. I do not judge anyone who continues in it or tries to clean it up into something better

Ok, I'm tryna quote "should have just waited for the rest," but instead I'm quoting something I don't even see that you've posted, hmm...ahh, ok...(other people's edits {reality, etc.}--I guess they do exist).

Ya, it has to be a personal choice. Lol, they all do. You just can't legislate people's opinions, no matter how hard you try.

I can agree with a lot of your concerns. But the decorations aren't the issue. The heart is.
We might to better to divorce any holiday association from Christ. Simply admit that Christmas is a cultural holiday that is more in line with our cultural tradtions than biblical facts.

LOL
You bowed down and served a tree! ROFL!
Dude... ancient pagans reveal what God meant by this. They treated their idols as though they were scientient beings. They bathed them, left food out for them, massaged them, tried to "please" them physically, waged wars to build greater temples for them. They sang to them. Talked to them. Prayed to them. Worshipped and adored them. They held "festivities" around their idols to "arouse" the god. To equate this grave sin to putting up a plastic tree and throwing lights on it to make the house look pretty is just... silly to me. lol
