I personally don't care if someone's hair is 3 ft. tall, and they wear purple and gold glitter. Just don't, at the same time, insist that it's wrong to wear makeup and jewelry because it draws attention to you.

Bingo. It is not about modesty or the lack thereof, but about hypocrisy. Girls dressing to impress other girls and boys dressing to impress..... well, the girls. And yes, kids WILL be kids, but now is the time to teach them about principles. Without them you get what we have here: Kids dressed to the hilt yet so SO proud of that earring or ring they are NOT wearing and the resulting superiority it creates.

I went to UPC churches from 1955-1964.
I went to a Vineyard Church from 1992-2006.
Most of the UPC people looked like UPC people.
Most of the Vineyard people looked like Vineyard people.
I still have limited interaction with UPC and Vineyard people.
I think if I honestly assess things like love, genuineness, caring, etc. (things that I consider "real" Christianity) I saw and see more of the real stuff among Vineyard people.

Vinyard is huge here in my area of Ohio. I have seen, worked with and played softball with lots of them. YOu have a better view of them than I.
With a few exceptions, they mostly come off as Sunday Christians/Monday-Saturday sinners.

Maybe they recruit ringers for their softball teams? A lot of churches do that. LOL.

Some of you would bellyache and be critical of the Youth no matter what. They dress up an dtry to look their best (even though some do take it to an extreme) so they are horrible and not being modest. If they didn't dress their best they would be criticized for not showing proper regard for the service. Blah blah blah.
They are youth. Get over it.
As to the Apostolic Identity movement...PRAISE GOD!!! This generation is in serious need of a revival of standards. Some of us actually are still PROUD of the fact that our men and women look differnt. Even the standarsd I disagree with, I would rather have them than to let standards go and look like a bunch of Vinyard people.

The underlying attitude of standards in general. It has less to do with "the world" and more to do with branding your marketing image of distinction from other Christians. Sickening.

There's a lot of truth to this statement, unfortunately.

LOL. You know...you may be 100% right. For some reason church folks seem to REALLY take their softball seriously.

I don't find it sickening at all. You really see no benefit in distinction from other groups that call themselves Christian yet live lives that make their Christianity a mockery of Christ Himself?
Maybe you would enjoy having no distinction from the Christians who feel homosexuality is perfectly natural? Maybe you think the goths and such who pierce every body part, tattoo every other and dress like death yet claim they are of Christ are fine? Perhaps you wouldn't mind being mistaken for a Mormon, JW or other pseudo-Christian group?
I like distinction.

If your wife is not with you - how are you distinct?

Have you made friends with any of them?
What makes them "come off" as sinners?
