I really like any fresh flowers. Roses are great bunched into small containers. Last year I planted my own gladiolas in front of the house and cut them for arrangements--until those PUPPIES destroyed them all!

Tulips are already planted in the back yard. I dug up the bulbs, split them, stored them in the garage, and then replanted them in Oct. Hopefully I'll have a good showing.

I'm looking forward to fresh flowers in a couple of months.

I see that you are a romantic. I'll add poppies to my list. I wish we could plant our whole front field full of poppies.

Re: Michele Obama's dress

Look at what the New York Times is writing about the Obama's. Didn't take them long to turn face and spit.

Quote:
-- Is there a parallel between Mrs. Obama's jewel-toned outfit and somebody else's glass slippers? Why limousines and not shank's mare? (FOR YOU RENDA! lol!)

-- It is still unclear whether we are supposed to shout "Whoopee!" or "Shame!" about the new elegance the Obamas are bringing to Washington.

-- The American public is bemused by the tasteless show-biz extravaganza surrounding Barack Obama's inauguration today

I remember some multi-colored striped socks you posted on NFCF. That's really contemporary!!!

If I take any test on decorating styles I am always "traditional" or "classic".

Funny you would mention poppies. A man that lived up the street from us, when I was growing up, had a garden full of red poppies growing all along the outside of his fence line.

When us girls would walk by, he would come out on the porch to make sure we didn't touch his flowers. LOL! We wanted to!!!! LOL!

Re: Michele Obama's dress

Jeffrey picks "flowers" out of our field for me--I always love those, even though they're usually things that make me sneeze, mixed with hay, grass and sticks. I usually showcase them on the piano and try not to breathe when I'm passing by. He always looks so proud.

One time our neighbor's flowers were hanging over the fence, and Jeffrey took scissors and cut off the flowers that were on our side! LOL!!!! I had to explain that even though they were technically in our yard, they still weren't ours. But I kept them of course!

My dog destroyed my gladiolus too! I especially picked a pink flower with yellow spots all over them. I thought they would come back because it's a bulb. I didn't see that he dung far enough to get to them. Maybe they will come back in the spring.

I've never planted tulips. I'm not a big yard person. My husband does all of that. I mainly plant a lot of tropical, vines, etc. It's easier to take care of - you don't have to do anything. LOL!

I do NOT have a green thumb, so I work hard at finding easy-to-grow plants.

I'm HOPING my tulips will come up--I've never split bulbs before, so hopefully I did it right. If they do good, I'll take pictures and post them--otherwise...I'll be buying more.

I don't know what they are--I just know they make my throat itch!

I'm sure they will come up. It's a great Biology lesson for the kids!!!

Well, gotta run. My son wants to sleep on the couch so he doesn't have to take another bath. LOL! That means he needs it dark and I'm on the computer. LOL!

Have a good one!
