Actually, I don't think AB was implying it was a "ransom" or any such thing. I am not even sure they asked him to give them anything.

Read My Post Agin !
I was posting regarding the PCI View
in Tenn, Miss, Ala & Georgia -
The UPCI WAS NOT FORMED
UNTIL THE MID FORTIES -
The PAJC were mostly anti jewelry -
Under the GOSS Leadership views on
Holiness was not harped upon -
The Morgan Leadership views on Holiness
propogated the other side of the merger -
AS FAR AS THE TEXAS VIEWS GO
Bishop Kilgore & His Son Elder James Kilgore
ALWAYS PREACHED AGAINST RINGS
BUT
What About The Church's Current Pastor ?

This is turning out too funny - we all think something different than what the poster is actually thinking! LOL
RRFORD - You know - If they help you with finances to build a church and then you disaffiliate - you have to pay the money back and yes - sadly - they did ask for it. But I wanted out so bad that at that point - it did not matter - I paid it gladly and it made us all happy!

I couldn't find any of the greens and pastels that the charismatics wore in the 90's.

We have at least one of them here in the Cincinnati area.
There is one just a couple of miles from my house, near Bro. Paslay's church. I've only been at the restaurant once. Seemed a little "pricey" to me. Anyone coming to the Cincinnati area and wants to go there, contact me. Depending on the time of the month (near pension check or near social security check) I might be able to buy your meal.

MissBrattified,
I was raised in the Black Church and greatly influenced by the Black Church - My Bishop G. E. Patterson just passed away last week and was a Godly Giant of a Man! Sorry - just had to say it!
Anyway - The churches I Oversee and Cover in our Network are predominately Black - actually - Church Alive of Atlanta is 70% Caribbean.
In saying that - I dress in more of a black style and have always done so from my teen years. Baggy Suit pants and big shoulder Suits with long Suit jackets. Most of my UPC buddies always thought I was trying to out dress them or be flashy - it was just what I had always done. Most of my suits now are custom made but still in the same BIG SUIT fashion. I love to be comfortable in a suit!

I just laughed and said - "I SAID - OH YES WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE DO - INCLUDING YOU!"
He said - "What are you talking about - I only wear the silk ones and have never wore gold or silver ones!"
I said - "Oh yes you have and that is exactly why I am wearing these - because YOU set the precedent for wearing them!"
He was so shocked and denied EVER wearing them. "Well - I NEVER" he proclaimed!
I reminded him that when I came to Georgia with the UPC - I did not wear cuff links. They wore them for the most part in UPC - Florida along with other jewelry.
So I did not wear them in Georgia - but then I went to a church to preach and this NOW finger pointer - he was the presbyter and lo and behold when we were praying at the altar with people - he took his coat off and he had big ole CUFF LINKS ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never said a word about it until he jumped ME for having some on!
He said sheepishly, "Well - I did - but I had forgot mine and had to borrow some from the pastor and that was all he had." But he said - "I still don't believe in them!" LOL
And that ladies and gentlemen is one reason I wear big gawdy GOLD cuff links today - I was persuaded and influenced by EXAMPLE - by a genuine Son of the Superintendent, Preacher in the most Conservative "Apostolic" churches and campmeetings, Presbyter, Pastor and former "friend"!
