Renda, this picture looks like my mothers hair. Her hair is down to her ankles. Because of the years of wearing it up on her head , guess what has happened to her scalp.....she has BALD spots where the hair has been pulled out by bobby pins and barretts that she used to keep her hairdo Holy! What about the theory of uncut hair in her situation. Her wearing her hair up caused permanent bald spots.
I had med/thick hair and wore it pulled back in the Micky M style for years and I have two bald spots the size of quarters from the friction of my bobby pins. I went to a dermatologist and had him look at them, he said the only way to get the hair to grow back would be laser treatments. He said it may or may not work.
This thread reminds me of the spirit of the pharisies. So Sad. So tipical of the UPC mindset.

Hey, whoaaa harmonious one.....UPC = Pharisees, really????? I mean, I'll give you the extra biblical stuff like pantyhose and watches and video screens that some of those cats harp on, but the stuff where there is at least a biblical reference??? Yes, many interpretations I know I know, but one can make the argument that hair and apparel is at least mentioned....that is like a Pharisee to have those intepretations???
Man as a staff member of a UPC church, wow, that's coooold.
I've never read anywhere in my Bible where it said woman should only wear their uncut hair up.
The bible doesn't. But if a Pastors wife says you should and you don't are you not in rebellion against the Pastors wife? What is the difference then? Sin is sin, right?

Did you go to a church that told women they had to wear their hair up all the time?
I'll just give you a bit of information you might not already have... the majority of UPC churches do not teach or expect this... and the ones that do are probably leaving to join the WPF...

I think this thread has the spirit of the pharisies. Look at me..I pass the holiness test!! I am so Holy as you can SEE.
Monkeyman I am not meaning to be offensive. I have been raised ultra ULTRA conservative UPC. I think you are of more of a liberal UPC. Correct me if I am wrong.

Yes I was. The pastors wife taught that married ladies should wear their hair up. She said it wasn't "Bible" but it was her teaching. She felt that if you were married, wearing your hair down was drawing undo attention from other men.....Yep...that is what she taught!!

That's unfortunate that they had this rule... I am thankful this lady admitted she had absolutely no Bible for it. Because obviously there is not.
It isn't healthy for hair to be up continually... it's hard on the scalp and sometimes can give a person headaches.
I believe in Bible times they probably wore thier hair down.
This thread isn't my cup of tea either... but I wouldn't say it's typical of UPC pharisees. We're not all pharisees, and StMark seems to just like a good brawl. He's not typical either

Wow never attended a Church where the pastors wife taught. Our teaching came from the Pastor himself and he taught out of the word of God.
Some of his sermons were just his feelings about how we should do or not do.
