Several of my youth would be chewed up, spit out and discarded by some on this forum cause we all know that "standards" are a definite indicator of a relationship with Christ...therefore, no standards, no relationship ya know. (TIC firmly) :sshhh
That's what they say about me!! LOL!

Psh! Try being told you have no relationship when you DO keep the standards because you switched churches! So I figured, why not, I'll drop the standards too since I don't have a relationship anyway. :sshhh
Oh, but I've been told I have a very good fake Pentecostal bun. LOL

When did things ever get so complicated?! Whoever started this thing about making a distinction between praise and worship?!
I'm asking because when I was a young'un, I don't remember this stuff about worship songs and praise songs and that one is greater than another.
I even heard an elder say once while we were as one clapping unto the Lord, "Now stop clapping your hands and lift them in worship!!"
I stopped cold and was confused in my spirit...he had no way of knowing my heart and that I was worshipping!!
And Roxie, in what you call praise...how do you know it is not solely directed to God and that He is the center of attention?!
This is all too complicated for my little mind...
Well, if I read my Bible correctly, IT makes such distinctions by how it defines praise and worship. In a service where God's people have gathered together in His Name, I believe that both of these things will flow together in that service. I have witnessed it many times.
You were addressing Heavenly One's comments which were specifically in regard to my youth group in my church.
I don't need your patronizing "benefit of the doubt". I've seen you post here often enough to know your style and I'm calling you on it.
You weren't discussing "principle" but rather you made personal accusations specific to what Heavenly One posted. Specific to myself, my youth group, my pastor and my church as a whole.
Anyone that is worth their salt, including YOU (I've seen you in action), will defend themselves, their ministry, their church, their pastor, etc. when blatant false accusations start flying.
Once again, I'm calling you on your accusations, not your personal convictions (and they are purely PERSONAL) regarding steppin' or sticks or other such things.
Once again, I quote your accusations in response to Heavenly One's post regarding my youth group, myself, my pastor, my church... QUOTE: "Since those young people are no longer taught what it is to have a personal relationship with Jesus that comes through prayer and personal devotion, we MUST keep them entertained with the newest and latest 'stuff' so that they will park their carcasses on the pews."
And then you went further and compared the stick drama team that Heavenly One spoke of to your mother-in-law, though a sinner, who provided drugs and alchohol in her home to "keep them from going to party". Lastly you stated that our line of reasoning, since it was the same as your mother-in-laws, was carnal. Heres your words quoted below.
QUOTE: "My mother-in-law was of the same frame of mind, though a sinner, in that she made sure to provide her boys (my husband and his little brother) with drugs and alcohol at home to 'keep them from going out to party'. It is the same line of carnal reasoning,..."
If you are going to make such accusations regarding ministers and ministries that you know NOTHING about, you best be able to take the heat when you are called on them. Instead, you resorted to yet MORE false, personal accusations as quoted below.
QUOTE: "I daresay either conviction came your way, or you are just too self focused..."
Answer the questions, Sis. Murphy, or knock off the accusations and find someone without an ounce of a backbone to pick on. Its your choice.
I repeat the questions...
[U]Who do you think you are to say that this youth pastor (that being ME) as well as my pastor,
QUOTE:
"no longer teach what it is to have a personal relationship with Jesus that comes through prayer and personal devotion..."
Have you been to my church? Have you heard me preach and teach? Have you heard my pastor preach and teach?
Girlfriend, get over yourself!!!
The "those young people" I was referring to were any group of young people who are only being kept in church by the use of the newest form of entertainment. So, save your 'backbone' for a real fight, 'cause I wasn't addressing YOUR church, YOUR youth group, YOUR whatever.

I came away with the idea that you were. And then when you never clarified your statement, but rather a bunch of name calling came in... well I thought that a battle had been called.
Your statement, whether you intended it that way or not, was posted in a context that made it appear that the kids who were "stepping" and doing the stick thing we not being taught to have a relationship with Jesus. A pic of the kids opened the thread along with a video from a non-Apostolic church's youth to illustrate what "stepping" is, for those of us who are unfamiliar with it.
I asked you directly for clarification- you and another poster who has since apologized responded with taunts and name calling. Now you are being held to account for your words and actions, and you appear to be pleading ignorance; ignorance of your own words and actions. Sad.

I did clarify my statement. Apparently you missed it. Sad.
