when I was an UC, there was a neighboring preacher who grew a beard and came to visit our church during a revival, we all assumed he was backslid. we were badly brainwashed.

funny thing is he was, he was caught in a work related theft, fired from his job and resigned as pastor. I'm sure it had nothing to do with facial hair though.

how would you like it if you had an UC pastor that became a saved at repentance one stepper?

let me tell you what I think.

men of God were born in the fire of old time pentecostal preaching, when people prayed and fasted and sought the face of God and had revival. they assumed that the standards were a necessary part of revivial. the next generation came along and began to question it. they said "I don't see that in the Bible, why are you preaching that?"

We have to stay relevant, and grow and change, without comprimising the truth of the basic message, but laying aside the doctrine of men.

tell me how we do that? we have to lay aside the traditions of men, while still keep the red hot passion, prayer fasting, seeking the face of God and holiness of the heart. tell me how we do that?
