Well, if you do admit that there are many lies and exaggerations, maybe you can understand my skepticism. And my attempt to explain the deaf mute's speaking in tongues. (I don't doubt you heard it, by the way. It's a very plausible story, but so is my explanation.)

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. I said that I don't ask proof from you, and that's true, but it would be within my rights to do so, or anyone else's rights when they see tongues practiced or preached. It's an extraordinary thing to consider: God taking over your speech and making something in a heavenly language come out. God Himself! That's one of the most astonishing things there could be! It seems to be taken pretty lightly among most pentecostals today, considering what it is claimed to be.

Well that is a rather tame response...that you erred on the side of caution. That remains to be seen. But more specifically what ETERNAL consequences does it have for either of us? If you DID have the baptism of the Holy Ghost and later rejected it and tongues and infact I think you claimed you can no longer speak in tongues...does that mean God has left you?

I said "common sense", not "caution".

I said I don't speak in tongues, not that I can't.

God has not left me.

So can you still? Have you tried? I am glad you feel God has not left you, but my question was hypothetical. I was not suggesting God did leave you or asking you if he did

Ah, and in my answer I meant to imply that the "if" part of your hypothetical was not the case, but should have answered as if it were true, sorry. So, starting over: if I really did have the baptism and later rejected it and tongues, I believe that God will understand my reasoning and motivation (seeking truth), and He would not leave me.

I don't know the answer. The bible describes it as the gift of the Holy Ghost. Id hate to think of what that means for someone that once had it then rejected it

Hi Timmy ....

I think God may have already left you OR you left Him (one or the other or both) ... to reject His power and anointing in your life. Something's terribly wrong for sure.
