I always sat there scratching my head when the evangelist just finished with a good old fashioned Apostolic message and makes the statement, "I dunno if there are going to be any Baptists there or Methodists there, or Catholics there...I hope they are...but I do know this...(more Apostolic message)".

Shouldn't he know for sure?

I have heard preachers say this several times through the years...and I still am left wondering what in Sam Hill they are talking about.

You know how evangelists are, they get carried away sometimes --- when they get anointed there is no telling what they might say ........

You have made the same cardinal sin of equating the gospel ... to the response to the gospel .... w/ your words ...

Interestingly you mention Matthew 1:4 ... Jesus own words .... asking them to believe .... YEARS BEFORE HIS DEATH, BURIAL AND RESURRECTION ... of which you feel must be re-enacted to attain salvation he ... God is Salvation .... Jesus. ... provided ...
Does only believing the gospel save us or does believing the gospel and obeying the gospel save us?

Does this passage of scripture from Romans 4 support what you believe saves us?

3 For what does the Scripture say? "ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS."
4 Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due.
5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness,
6 just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
7 "BLESSED ARE THOSE WHOSE LAWLESS DEEDS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN,
AND WHOSE SINS HAVE BEEN COVERED.
8 "BLESSED IS THE MAN WHOSE SIN THE LORD WILL NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT."

Is the righteousness that God credits us when we have faith in Christ's atonement mean that our sins are forgiven and covered and will not be accounted for at the judgement?

I didn't think anything of it.

Just last week I had three cups of coffee and two plain donuts with a very notable Trinitarian in Houston. We sat and talked for over an hour. About fifteen minutes spent discussing some real property. Another hour was spent in a polite and very enjoyable scriptural discussion. We laughed a lot, told a couple of jokes, discussed a book...written by a Trinitarian and departed from each other's company feeling refreshed and uplifted.

Was that fellowship? Does that count? If not, just what is fellowship?

I don't check in too much, but I hope to catch your response.
