Oh yeah, it's a crime, but is the punishment worth the hassle it would take for them to press the issue? I think their main concern was/is peace. The state should press the false report issue, but I wouldn't expect the players too if it was my purpose to simply move on with my life without being known as "the rich white guys who were falsely accused of rape by that black woman."
I don't think I'd be keen to wear that label.

If she is making any profits, they should get them, not her. However, I would be willing to bet that the families of those guys, again, just would not need the "extra dough" after suing the state and the school.
I think they would be most concerned with moving on.
But she should not profit from her lies-- especially since her lies were at the expense of innocent people STILL ALIVE TODAY!!!
This is ALL SORTS OF WRONG!!!

I'm not convinced that the incident was as much racially motivated as it was an opportunity to make easy money by falsely accusing and suing some rich guys. I think she played the race card to make it look more believable and bring black leaders on board.
She played Jesse Jackson, the media, and the prosecutor like a Stradivarius violin!
The players were publicly vindicated and their reputations somewhat restored, but only after a year or so of going thru Hell. If they made money off this deal, they certainly deserved it! I would bet that all of the guys would give the money back for this accusation to have never happened!

I doubt it would have happened if all players were black.

It's more than kinda nice to see ole Rev. Jessie played for a fool.

TS, if the players were black and she were white race could have still played a major role in many parts of the country. It is just a sad but true reality in some places. There have been many cases where black atheletes were accused of doing something against a white student's will, whenever the affair came to light. I'm thinking about one case in particular that really raised a ruckus on the national scale.
I for one hated what they did to the lacrosse players and the rest of their team that year.
