Maybe Felicity, that is something that should be considered. You can forgive someone, but that doesn't mean you have to be best friends with them.

Sister, I think there is this huge misconception among church folks that says we are all supposed to like each other and be the best of friends. People think that because we are commanded to love each other that it means we have to like each other. I don't see it that way. I can love someone and not like them. Not at all. I was just smart enough to know that he hadn't changed and it wouldn't be prudent for me to give him the opportunity to speak to me or my wife that way again.

I could agree with you if the issue that is still going on was one of the "BUT" in the scripture and you are distancing yourself from that person to protect yourself.
