Coonskinner, thanks for putting so much thought into my question. But i dont put a lot of faith in the NIV or NLT.Do you agree with their interpretation of this verse?

NIV
John 3:
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[f] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

NLT
John 3:
16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Will and shall are pretty much synonyms.

Paul said that to let people no that there was no other custom observed by any church of God.

It means exactly what it says.

Well, I have NEVER been so confused on this issue as I am today!! I just read through 14 versions and it is a mess!
Some are pro LONG HAIR, others are against cutting all together, and some are PRO VEIL!!!

maybe discussion boards are not the best forum for you to engage this issue.

...just wondering....
have you ever engaged an issue on a discussion board and NOT HAD at least three seemingly divergent viewpoints?

Most discussions have different view points, but are harmonious in different translations of the Bible. The hair story will give you 4 different view points in 14 translations.
It's one thing to disagree with someones opinion on a forum, completely different when you go to see what the Bible has to say and the translators did not agree!!

Perhaps because some cultures, still to this day, have a custom of women shaving their heads, and offering their hair to the gods. Much of the real hair in salons in this country comes from Hindu temples.

Paul is saying we do NOT have this custom.

In Kenya and other African countries, they shave all the kids' heads if they go to school, to prevent bugs. It doesn't matter whether they want it shaved or not, if they go to school, it is a requirement. I don't think a girl ought to have a shaved head, but surely these girls are not held responsible for what they have to do.

Somone wants to chime in here and say this but is afraid, so I'll do it for him::::

"Girls should not go to school if they have to shave their heads!!! The Lord will teach them everything they need to know!!"
