It is all in what you choose to view. Only choose to view shows equal to Pepsi, tea, smoked turkey, married couples, etc. Or one can choose to view shows equal to Coors, Bud-lite, smoking crack, and adultery.

At times they get out of hand, and I must admit I am at fault with that, but nobodies convictions are being forced on anybody! And by the way, we were never allowed to go to disney.com for that reason. In fact, when we were younger we weren't allowed on the internet except with our parents their to help us, such as with school, etc...
Does this mean your parents have eased up on their standards or learned enough to know it isn't as bad unless you make it that way?

You just mentioned your friend said there is a "spirit" in Hollywood. Wouldn't you think there is a "spirit" in listening to a naked lady sing?

Nobody is tearing down anybody.
And nobody is trying to "talk him out of his beliefs". I don't see anyone here trying to convince him to watch tv, do you?

Frankly I think many of us wish he'd just let us have our own beliefs and leave us alone about it.

Besides, he is the one who started this thread, apparently looking to argue and debate about this topic. (Did you read the original post on this thread?) But now that the weaknesses in his arguments are being exposed, you're trying to say we're tearing him down? Spare us, bro.

In my original post i was not looking to argue, but wanted to see your reasoning for having one, so I apologize if you took it that way.
And what about our beliefs? If you think that way, then what about how we as conservatives feel? When you talk about us and our beliefs? And you can't understand our reasoning?

What makes you a conservative and the rest of us not?

Are we now basing whether we are conservative, liberal or otherwise on our feelings??

Wow! I always thought it was based on principles that we held to -- or didn't hold to.

TV almost DESTROYED my marriage!!

I was watching too many of those HGTV shows that do these "little weekend projects". I would convince my husband to do some and they would turn into a 4 month nightmare and then we would accidently open up a "can of worms" and find other things that needed fixing!

So there you go, the evils of television! We quit watching HGTV and all is well!

Doesn't HGTV even have a few shows where the premise is that they come in and actually help people like your husband who started things that he can't finish? I am thinking of "Over Your Head" and "Don't Sweat It".
