Adino your interpetation is absurd, you expected that from me. Jesus was studdering in John 3;5??? Not impressed.
You guys are amazing.
First being born of water is the natural birth but that would not wash.
Then being born of water was the word and that was so mystical in trying to define so it wouldn't wash.
Now this Jesus is just being redundant.

What will be next???????????????????????????????????????

Anyone remember someone saying something about EVER LEARNING?????

Just match what Jesus said to the examples in Acts it is self explanatory.

Water baptism is a twin with believing.

****note: please take a moment and go vote on the thread titled "Water baptism; Can you agree with this statement? **************

That thread is an atttempt to spawn conversation with a specific focus involving whether you teach and believe God has commandments that are separate and distinct from our salvation in him.

God resides in our hearts by his spirit teaching us and guiding us in all truth. Does he have certain commandments that are salvational and others that are there just "because"?

Is God into things just for show or is every move, act, and utterance for establishing our life in his Christ? Apart from the Christ we are lost.

Adino is advancing a teaching that would say God has at least two compartments; salvational and ??? ceremonial/sacramental/showy. His efforts in bringing John 3:5 to this thread is to move water baptism from being fondational in our new birth salvation (deliverance from the former) to being a nice thing to do once we are born again because God's word seems to be commanding it.

Nicodemus could not understand these words:
Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God
It was the AGAIN portion that Nicodemus was struggling with as evidenced by his guestion being entirely established in that aspect, the AGAIN aspect.
How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

AGAIN, was the problem, the confusion..."can he enter a SECOND time into his mother's womb?

The wonderful counsel, the wisdom of the ages speaks an answer to this ruler's inability to comprehend an "AGAIN" birth.
Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

A new birth needed two things to happen:
1. A death and burial of the former
2. A resurrection unto the new

The old, former thing is not irrevelant or easily ignored. Death must be accomplished to bring separation from the former taskmaster. Without such, the newness of life will be hunted and haunted by the former taskmaster seeking occassion to re-establish dominon over a former slave.

Kenneth Haney believes the "light" doctrine?

Me too. If you do not have the light, how can you walk in it. To send the light is the reason that we send Evangelists and Missionaries around the world...yes, to speed the light. When the light comes, it is incumbent that we walk in that light. No light...no walk. The presence of light demands that we walk in it. If we do not walk in the light, darkness will over take us, leaving us alone in that darkness. Light demands obedience.

Good for Kenneth Haney, he must be a wise man. Too bad he is TWO faced. That's NOT good.

When my mother died, she left me, an inheritance. All I had to do to receive it was to give my conscent. (just sign the check). I didn't work for it, it was a free gift.

Why do you say this?

BIGL, why is it people can't accept free salvation? Jesus is free. Drink from the water of life freely. Freely you have received, freely give. Why can't people just accept the cross for what it is? Free.
