We are Pentecostals, you're nothing basically
Although this song says nothing 'bout our Christ and Lord
We need to shout 'bout how we're #1, too bad you are ignored
We are Pentecostals, can't you feel the anointing in that?
We are Pentecostals, please dismiss the fat
We are Pentecostals, and that gives the glory to God
We are Pentecostals, scream and shout and shake your bod
We, we, we, we, we, we, we,
We, we, we, we, we, we, we,
Us, us, us, us, us, us, us, us, us
Us, us, us, us, us, us, us, us, us
Ego, ego, ego, pride
Ego, ego, ego, pride
We are the very best, there's no insecurity
We will worship who we are, and everything you see
We will praise traditions and our identity
We will rejoice, shout and dance and sing
That we are Pentecostals
And you're filled with jealousy

ROFL!!
There goes your license. How dare you make fun of a song written by the beloved son of the GS? Obviously you have no aspirations of becoming a district or national official in the UPC.

I'm a Pentecostal but I'm really not so glad
I'd like to be on TBN cause standards make me mad
My heroes all wear pinkie rings, I wish that I could too
But maybe after Tampa then my dreams can all come true
And I can finally be myself without a trace of fear
I'm a closet charismatic wondering why I am still here
I'm so much nicer, smarter and more spiritual than you
And if you weren't conservative you'd know that it was true
You're just a Neo-Pharisee and bound with all your rules
And in my secret heart of hearts I think that you're all fools
My arrogance is rancid though it's cloaked as nicey-nice
Embarassed by my heritage I hate to pay the price
I'd chuck my card this minute if I knew I'd lose no folks
But there still might be one or two who'd rather bear the yokes
And staying in enables me to barb and cut and smear
I'm a closet charismatic, wondering why I am still here

Maybe someone should start a thread on competing cut down songs. We could vote and everything!

I have to admit that I liked your's better too. LOL! You and I both know that if we did start something like a cut down song competition someone's feewings would get hurt and the whole thing would probly end up getting deleted. Still, it would fun, as long as everyone knew it was in fun.

I guess I would have to admit this was not my fav song of all time.
BUT with that said....I think there are times that as a church you may need to sing a song that affirms your unity and belief in God and rally the troops....not every song or even every service. I think time and place and audience is important...this one certainly wouldn't be the choice for a street meeting but may be for a camp meeting.
My preference is 'vertical praise and worship' type songs. I even prefer the mid to slow tempo the best. But I think in God's eyes there is probably room for all types of praise as long as the heart and intent of the worshipper is right. So may be even you southern gospel lovers are ok! hahahaha!
