Well that is what happened. The real Cons came in and wne to the sanctuary, but we were not in there we had the revival in our gym/life center. It was all done up right a funky. They did not like it and left. The funny thing is there was a few late arrivals that took the free seats and I think that one of them received the HG that night.
I wish that I could have thanked them for leaving, but then I would have been not in the right spirit. But as it turned out they did not come back to the other nights and that was fine too we had a better time knowing the judges and Stuace Elitest were not there to pass judgement.
Whole Hearted, I am sure the camp you left was happier after you left too.

Well this same camp use to have three times this many kids. They didn't even have the services in the Tabernacle.
I have been going to this camp for some 33 years now and have never seen it this small.
they only sung two courses the whole night and they were very charismatic.
There was no camp choir or anything. The light were so low you couldn't see anything. My daughter keep saying "Why don't they turn up the lights?"
Both my kids were ready to go. They love their youth camp and said that they have no desire to ever set foot in this camp again.
You say they will be glad that I left and I say we will be glad to never set foot there again.

All the men on our platform must at least wear dress slacks and dress shirt and tie. I prefer that they wear a suit and tie.

WH, I thought you were UPC... yet you say "they love their youth camp" as if theirs was another. Also you are in TX - this does not sound right for a TX camp.

Our whole concept in Jackson has been to be "unchurchy". We are across the street from the largest church in the city and it is a very beautiful, but traditional buildling. We actually told the architects to make ours look like a mall. The present facilities has a coffee bar when you come in the door with several flat screen monitors going. People love to come and fellowship before and after services. When we move into the new sanctuary, our present sanctuary will become all coffee bar/fellowship room. It doesn't take away from the fact that God's Spirit is there; it's just a different concept.
It would do some people good to come and see before they criticize, and that includes criticizing our doctrine and worship.

I like it Sherri.. and when I come that way, I intend to visit your church.
My pastor isn't real traditional either... phase one of our church looks like an office building or something. This picture is before it was landscaped or the fountain working... but it is pretty modern looking... doesn't look like a church at all.

I personally prefer traditional looking church architecture with a brick building and big white columns.
However I am old enough and have enough sense to know that for many people this represents the dead old dry churches of their parents and grandparents. Many feel less intimidated visiting and attending something that looks different.
Christ Church Nashville's modern architecture looks more like a convention center / office building complex than a church. It is not my personal preference but it has been very successful and is very well designed and very practical. We do have a 120 foot modern steel beamed bell tower with a cross on top that is "churchy".
