I was simply responding to the question about how my church felt about my leaving. What did you want me to do, lie and say we lost 10 families when they found out. I explained the history of the church. Their feelings about my departure are not because I am some kind of dictator who tells them what to think. Nevertheless, I think that any lead worth his salt will have an influence on the way his people feel about things. I would hate to think that the people I pastor loved the UPC more than they loved the church they attend. To walk out on family members, friends, people who taught them Bible studies, helped them through difficult times, etc., all because their pastor no longer was the member of a particular organization.

It could have come across as they wanted you to leave the church, not the UPC

KP,
I know as an ultra con you feel a certain obligation to be somber but you just have to lighten up! It was clear they, like myself, thought your wording was inadverdently funny as it could be taken that your church wanted you to leave. Period. We all knew you meant the UPC but to the casual reader it could have been read that your church wanted to get rid of you. That is what was funny.

Excellent advice! I was 'all serious like" and it wasn't much fun either. Had 3 or 4 heart attacks too.

In person, KP is one of the funniest guys I know.
He is a lot of fun to be around, and can tell more stories than you can shake a stick at.

Sorry, guys. I am suffering from some kind of sinus infection and am therefore not in the best of moods. I apologize.
I didn't realize that what I had written came across the way you took it. Again, I am sorry. Hopefully I'll feel better in a few days and can return to my normally cheerful self.
