My daughter and I wear skirts to church but pants most everywhere else. I have been consistent in teaching her modesty in everything she wears, and believe me when I say that at the age of 14 (this Friday), she dresses appropriately at all times, even when swimming (she wears a colored T-shirt and long shorts).

I know that I'm not the norm in what you relate to in your post above, but be assured that there are people out there who, although they once believed the 'standard doctrine', they still believe in modesty in all manner of dress.
I just want to amen your post. I told my mom last night that I dress a lot more modest even though I don't hold to "The Standard" than the UPC teenagers today. I was so shocked to see the UPC preachers daughter the other night in a very short skirt with high heels. (and it was not like she was rebeling because I have seen her in stuff like this with her dad and she is also dating a future UPC preacher)

I wanted to share this today.I have a lovely seventeen year old daughter who I brought up in church.We pastored for six years and it was very hard
on her.Once one of the ladies was having a very hard personal time and I
over heard her tell this lady,"This is what my mom would say." That just
made me so proud of her.She was listening even when I did not think
she was.Right now she is finishing her last year of high school.She goes to another pentecostal church than I do.The church she attends is the one
that she received the Holy Ghost in at seven years old.She is a Sunday
School teacher.Not a helper but the youngest teacher the church has
ever had.She sings on the platform and specials at church and district
functions.She picks out her own clothes and is very lady like and modest.
She is a hair do queen.My husband calls her his fancy do dad.She did not
have it easy growing up because for one we are not rich.She had to endure
alot of criticism being a pastors daughter among other things.People criticize the ministry alot and children over hear things.They watch people as you
help them as much as possible and then they knife you in the back.
I am so glad it did not effect her walk with God.I have not been so hard
on her that she has run from Jesus.I realized along time ago that she
has to find Jesus for herself and cannot be any prouder of her than
I am.She prays and loves God.To me that matters most of all.
When I read stuff that focuses so much on outward or too much on inward I wonder why the asking is being done? What is it that you really want?
Do you want to not grow any farther? Do you want justification to just
rely on the pastors convictions? How about deep dedication and consecration?
Its about relationship.Not mine or the other posters but yours with Jesus.
He calls the church "His elect,His bride." Think about it before you ask such
shallow questions about such trivial things.

May I add something to this? I've been thru a few of these posts on this subject. I can only talk about me personally: before I got the revelation of Jesus name, I started wearing dresses/skirts. I gave up all my pants, jewelry, and make-up and stopped cutting the back of my hair. (Now I don't cut any of it) Anyway, the reason I stopped wearing the pants was because I had to be honest with myself. Who am I? What's my point in all this? Honestly, I wore them to be tough. I truly felt tough while wearing pants. If women who wear or have worn pants would think about it and be honest with themselves, they would see how dressing in that apparel makes them feel. I'm NOT saying that there aren't tough women in dresses. I've met and feared some. I'm saying that if we dress in a way that makes us look like women, we'll feel like the woman that God created us to be. I use to argue that there are women's pants. Why argue? Are there men's skirts? (Sure, in Scotland) Really, when we argue the point, it's just so we can fulfill our own fleshly desires. We're going to do what we want anyways. AND, you won't have to go too far to find someone that will agree with what you want to do.

Not avocating wearing of pants, however, I will say when I did it never made me feel tough nor mascaline. It actually made me feel more mobile and easier to get around and much faster to get dressed.

I will also add wearing dresses makes you feel more "lady" like. Takes more effort to dress up, which usually includes wearing of heels

Not questioning your experience, but I can honestly say that I do not feel "tough" wearing pants. I like to wear them because they are warmer in the winter, more comfortable and easier to move around in (so mine obviously are not tight), require less planning in terms of an outfit, and look normal worn with tennis shoes. (I wear orthotics and my feet are not happy in dress shoes.)

This is a sort of strange post - but then I am a guy...

At our house I am quite sure wearing a skirt does not mean also wearing heels... that would be the exception.

It is not a requirement, just usually what happens when you "dress" up.
