The "polite" was my first post in the thread. The "brash" came after the name calling. That's what raised my hackles. I figured, "if they can dish it out, then I'd try and hold them responsible for it."
Of course you can never really do that. Our fellowship is governed by the hit and run types.
LOL! I have to admit that I'm the same way. I have done a lot of editing and PMing for forgiveness lots of times! Keeps me humble!

Well, I'm off to another assignment. I've witnessed again the same pattern of destructive behaviors that are killing our movement. I don't really expect any accounting or recognition to be made for the harm that was done.
Since so many of us have failed to be justified by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ - we must continue to oppress those closest to us. By condemning and accusing through innuendo we hope to puff ourselves up to the very throne of God.
I better email WEC real quick and tell them that I'm better than you.

I believe we will see a more positive change in the coming years. I just hope the damage done won't be irreversible by then.

I believe we can praise God without true worship but I don't think we can worship Him without the element of praise present. Worship embodies praise.
Praise doesn't have to be a precursor to worship. I can go straight into worship without praise as some have described and defined it here - praise I mean. On the other hand there can be a lot of noise and action but little true worship.
I think sometimes in regard to this a lot of effort goes into trying to distinguish and separate the two acts. God appreciates, longs for and responds to both praise and worship.
Without going into Greek and Hebrew ..... here are the dictionary definitions.
Praise:
the act of expressing approval or admiration; commendation; laudation.
the offering of grateful homage in words or song, as an act of worship: a hymn of praise to God.
the state of being approved or admired: The king lived in praise for many years.
to express approval or admiration of; commend; extol.
to offer grateful homage to (God or a deity), as in words or song.
sing someone's praises, to praise someone publicly and enthusiastically: He is always singing his wife's praises.
Worship:
reverent honor and homage paid to God or a sacred personage, or to any object regarded as sacred.
formal or ceremonious rendering of such honor and homage: They attended worship this morning.
adoring reverence or regard: excessive worship of business success.
the object of adoring reverence or regard.
to render religious reverence and homage to.
to feel an adoring reverence or regard for (any person or thing).
to render religious reverence and homage, as to a deity.
to attend services of divine worship.
to feel an adoring reverence or regard.

Thank you for pointing out that praise and worship are different. Praise is simply giving glory and honor to God, by various means, for His goodness, His greatness, His blessings, His numerous attributes....... I did a look through the Bible along the theme of worship. And I discovered that worship, real worship, came about after a sacrifice, and it involved the abasing of one's self in the presence of the One being worshipped. Sometimes praise has its' focus on the 'things' God has given us, as we are expressing our thanks for them. However, worship is solely directed to God, and HE is the center of attention.
When did things ever get so complicated?! Whoever started this thing about making a distinction between praise and worship?!
I'm asking because when I was a young'un, I don't remember this stuff about worship songs and praise songs and that one is greater than another.
I even heard an elder say once while we were as one clapping unto the Lord, "Now stop clapping your hands and lift them in worship!!"
I stopped cold and was confused in my spirit...he had no way of knowing my heart and that I was worshipping!!
And Roxie, in what you call praise...how do you know it is not solely directed to God and that He is the center of attention?!

I didn't see this before I posted, but yes...I agree...
Back in the late 70's and early 80's, the UPC Youth President at the time, Donald Deck, estimated that UPC churches were losing 75% of their youth once they became adults.
After reading comments and listening to current youth leaders, that figure seems to be climbing!
The diminishing numbers of preachers under the age of 30 should be alarming!
You know that that "insanity" is trying the same thing over and over expecting different results. Right now, the trend is pointing down, and the 'same 'ole same 'ole' ain't getting it done!
Fresh ideas and fresh approaches are needed to reign in our youngest before they too join the others at the exit door.
I applaud the UPCI Youth Directors for at least trying new ideas and new approaches.
