Have you ever considered Buddhism? I hear it is rather peaceful.....
If your well off enough financially you can try out Scientology.
For pure uniqueness nothing trumps the Church of the Fonz. All the wisdom of Arthur Fonzarelli wrapped up in an easy to consume religion. Although they even have their own internal controversies such as whether "The Lost Book of Chuck Part 1 and 2" should be included in official canon.
Seriously, Leavers leave. Once an individual starts leaving they will leave the next place they land. And once the get themselves a nice long list of why the are leaving and what the think will make them happy, they will never find any place that will measure up.
Start your own church. You wont be happy but some poor unsuspecting pastor will never know the misery you have saved him from…. At least he will have a measure of happiness. It is the kindest thing you can do.

Overall I agree.
But then again sometimes there are churches that people need to just run from.
And the simple truth is that leaving the FIRST time can be very difficult, but you know what they say, "leaving the second one is much....."

I am pretty sure I didn't cause my pastor(s), two so far and I am well in my 5th decade, any misery. I'm not the needy type. I managed to have major surgery twice without bothering anyone. Can not ever recall calling a pastor at home except once when the alarm code on the chruch had been changed and I set it off dropping of the bulletins I wrote the devotional for and paid to have printed every week. I have given generously. I have mentored those who were struggling by helping to pay bills, given rides to church etc. I don't really get into the usual 'service' type stuff... have never set foot on the platform except to pick up trash after a party, don't sing and I do not enjoy teaching children after raising a bunch of my own. I did nursery duty for a couple of years because no one else wanted it. I KNOW that we would be warmly welcomed back in either church we have attended.
I'm not bragging or whining. We do most of our learning and praying at home and try to go to church ready to be a help. But that does not make it any easier to get through some of what goes on there. We really do feel pretty complete without a church at all we have found over the past few weeks... but there is that pesky problem about the bible telling us not to forsake the assembly. So with that in mind I can't really consider your advice godly, but thanks any way.

I am sure you jest but actually I have worked for two Scientologists, one a vet and one a doctor over the years. Very weird stuff, space aliens and all that...and you are not kidding about the money. The doctor paid in excess or $100K for his and wifes auditing.
I work with a couple of docs that are Buddists... not as peaceful as one would think. Hindus are a little more laid back except the Seiks... they are more the warrior type.
Church of the Fonz... no I never really liked him much, reminded me of my younger brother... the one who is now facing the death penalty.

I'm aware but they share some things... total passivity is just not one of them. One of my docs is from Punjb India and wears the turban and the bracelet... That is the way he explains it anyway... I guess they are monotheistic... Never go too deep into that stuff with them as we always have WORK to talk about.
