Well, since I don't live for you and you don't live for me then I have to judge for myself and not compare myself with others.

I don't think personal conviction can be consistent - it's personal.

Brother Kilgore preached that we can't push our personal convictions onto other people. Not everyone is going to feel the same about everything.

It was a serious question.

I think that personal conviction has to line up with Scripture. If it doesn't then it possibly needs to be discarded.

But then some of this is dependent on how we divide Scripture. We don't all divide it the same way that's for sure so .......... it seems to me there must be some kind of allowance for a person developing convictions outside of those that are mandated by a pastor, church or organization.

Agree. That is why no one can say with certainty that you'll go to hell if you don't look the way the expect you to look. The three principles God established for a dress code is modesty, gender separation, and not draw attention to yourself. I taught the women in my household this principle. I told them I don't care what you wear as long as you follow these three principles. As head of my household I make that determination. I do not have the authority to tell peope they are going to hell because their dress code is diffeent than the one I established for my household. You can preach principle as salvation issue, but not a specific dress code...

Well, there is no scripture for it Felicity, but I have a conviction that I will never wear my hair as short as yours.

It is ..... yes. But like I just said in another post a lot of what we view as being salvational or not is wrapped up in how we interpret and "divide" Scripture.

There are things I will or won't do not based on a particular scripture necessarily but on "principles" that are established in the Word and are consistent from Genesis to Revelation.

Okay, so you're bringing it down to the "personal" level.

Modesty is a dress code of sorts, but I understand what you are saying.

I don't have a problem with 'standards'. I have a problem with "People" who act self-righteous in their standards.

I can't say that is a 100% attitude across the Board, but I have seen it.
