Incidentally, your use of the old "What you say is what you are, twice as far as a chocolate bar" gambit was devastatingly effective in first grade, but most of us have moved on to a little higher level of discourse.
No offense, Amos, but how does your coming to our forum to voice your displeasure over what we've become differ from folks who have left the UPC sharing some of their negative experiences after they left?

And, yet when they do that, they're considered "bitter" and told to get over it, move on, and stop talking about it.

Thanks...I remember now.

I believe he decided to pragmatically try to capitalize on the movie's publicity as an outreach tool for sinners, but felt strongly that Apostolics were better off avoiding it.

At least I think that was his position.

I also thought it was very Catholic in its glorification of suffering, as well as a few other elements.

My chief objection was the fact that I wanted the Holy Ghost to ispire my vision of Calvary, not Mel and his Hollywood chronies.

You mean like television?

(Amos, please don't be offended, I'm not saying you believe this, just using this thought as a spring board)

Some come here just to whine, complain and snivel about how evil AFF is. Fact is, they really can't handle honest debate that isn't stacked in their favor.

There is a reason why AFF is the most popular Oneness website in the world.

Open and honest debate.

Tone and spirit are everything, Bro.

I don't think you will find me railing and spitting at this forum.

By the way, with several hundred posts on this forum, I guess maybe I could be included in the plural possessive pronoun you used to describe it, couldn't I?

Not everyone who voices displeasure or disagreement gets labeled bitter by me, Bro.

Just the ones who manifest a bitter spirit.

Bro,

For a fellow who told me not to contact him any more, you sure show up and join the dog pile any time I venture over here.

Furthermore, it is laughable for you to suggest that I am afraid of debate in an open forum.

I spent a lot of time, too much probably, going around and around with smart folks like Newman and a few others that are quite a bit tougher than most of the local talent around here lately.

I just got bored with it, for the most part.

You can keep telling yourself that I am intimidated by you and your superior intellect, if you still have any room left in the storage space where you keep your delusions, like the one that makes you think I mean you some kind of harm.

In the few months I have been posting here I have never, once, ever, noticed you really debate a topic.

Never.

You normally just use little homespun anecdotes sprinkled with a few accusations of bitterness, idiocy and the like.

But I do enjoy the stories and illustrations.

Do we know each other?

Do we know each other?

On FCF and NFCF I spent mega amounts of time debating everything from the godhead to every separation issue in the catalogue. Of course, it was under a different username.

PM Renda, Mike Phelps, Maple Leaf, CC1, or any of the old hands and ask if I shun debate. I just lost interest in doing the same old same old over and over, with no real result.

And as for us knowing each other, let's not be coy.

I called you by your name here a few weeks ago and got infracted for it.

We have even eaten Mexican food together.

How about a little of that honesty you like to talk about.

Yup. Old Amos can sling words with the best of them.

FCF was created for Scriptural debate, and thrived on it.

Debate was center stage on FCF.

NFCF, as I remember it, was far too consumed with personal issues.

It ran on a 28 day shut down cycle, and good debate was often lost in the estrogen laced atmosphere.

I find AFF to be more conversational with Scriptural debate shunted off to a dark corner somewhere that I don't seem to ever get around to visiting.

I like AFF. It's not FCF, and thankfully it's not NFCF, but I like it.
