I'm not sure what happened but I think the GOP would be in much better shape if they had selected a stronger candidate.
Actually, he is their best chance to win this year. Romney would have had no shot... Mike Huckabee?, forgetaboutit.
After 8 years, Republican fatigue has set in. And the political mood has changed. A conservative Republican wouldn't stand a chance this year. Only a relatively moderate/liberal Republican like McCain could have a chance to win a good number of the moderates and independents that will win the election this year. Many independents (and even some Democrats) who would never vote for a Republican this year feel like if there's one Republican they could vote for, its John McCain. Many of them still feel Obama is too inexperienced. That might be what tips the election in favor of McCain and give him the win.

I guess you have a point. I wasn't terribly impressed by any of the other candidates. Come to think of it I wasn't really impressed with any candidate in the entire race in either party...that is a sad realization.
I was surprised that Fred Thompson didn't get more play....Maybe television advertising really doesn't work

Ferd,
The only evils I will be voting against when I cast my vote for Obama is dishonesty and poor judgment. Even you stated that Obama is consistently wrong on every thing.
At least we will know what we will be getting with him.
When I voted for GWB last time, I didn't realize just how dishonest he and his admin had been. However, I chose to ignore the fact that he changed his rationale for invading Iraq several times before the actual invasion.
The decisions made concerning the two wars and the response to Katrina and my impression of his domestic incompetencies have left me almost vowing to never vote Republican again.
On top of all of this, he wants to publicly connect himself to my Savior-- GWB MAKES ME WANT TO VOMIT AND HE MAKES ME ANGRY because with all of his EXPERIENCE and the all of the experience of his advisors, things sure could have gone much smoother. If I wasn't in the military, I'd call him bad names, publicly.

I hear ya. Bush's true colors didn't come out until his second term. I'm not saying I will never vote for another Republican again, but I certainly am not going to vote for a man I am certain will prove to be an extension of Bush's presidency.

That is only the half of it.
GWB may escape answering in this life, but he won't in the one to come unless he repents!
