What do you mean "accepted and most ancient understanding"? The late intertestamental speculations of Jewish mystical sectarians cannot possibly be claimed as the "accepted and most ancient understanding".
Furthermore, is doctrine and truth determined by the "oldest and majority opinion"? The Bible seems to indicate the "majority" are usually completely wrong on.

Aquila, where are your sources for ancient, oldest, and most accepted?
In the Talmud is the story of Eve, having relations with the Serpent. While this story is ancient, and some may of believed it, it wasn’t Biblical. Therefore looking at it as historical just creates more questions than it answers. But, please explain your thoughts on this.

Since writing that post, I found some ancient sources that see the "sons of God" as human rulers claiming divine right to rule as gods, much like the Pharaohs and Caesars. So, I stand corrected. lol
