Well, I'm not Monkey Man, but I will tell you that the pizza he place that he showed the picture of is amazing! It's called Grimaldi's and it's under the Brooklyn Bridge. You can take a subway over there (I think the R line, but not sure). Any Italian restaurant in Little Italy is good, at least all the ones we've eaten at. We love Bond 45 restaurant in the Times Square area, as well as Rosie O'Grady's. There is a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown that is just called "69 Mott Street" or something like that, and it's amazing food and very cheap! There are a zillion Cosi fast food places that have great sandwiches - they had a turkey sandwich with cranberry mayo last time I was in NY and it was wonderful!
It's also fun to go to the restaurant in Saks' and have afternoon tea with cookies and breads baskets. I've always wanted to go to the Russian Tea Room, but we've never gotten there.

I would try anything in Little Italy, its amazing! Call the restaurants ahead and ask about reservations but if you do lunch, you may be ok.
For a 1st timer I would suggest the view from Empire over Top Of The Rock due to nostalgia. Either view will be amazing. Also, Top Of The Rock is on the top of NBC Television studios so you may get in trouble with your District Sup......hahahaha! J/K

Wife & I at Battery Park with Lady Liberty behind us! Way back in the day, my moms and I climbed to the top of her crown.
