Hard to believe this is an issue among Spirit filled people. When I saw Oneness doctrine in the late 70's I thought I would find a real New Testament Church. Was I ever wrong. My Pastor told me "The standards are not Heaven or Hell they are just the standard of the Church".
Yet when Evangelists came in they did teach it that way and he would be amening them and saying what "honest" men they were.
It made it next to impossible to bring people to Church. I loved Oneness doctrine and
Acts 2:38 truth but found in other areas the "Apostolics" were just as off as Trins were on those issues.
What really shocked me was when I drove 400 miles to vist the UPC Bookstore. I thought I would really find some great treasures in truth. Yet upon arrival what I found was a place full of Protestant books.
I asked the sales lady if they had any books by Apostolic Authors. She showed me a very small little shelf and that was it. I hardly encountered such hypocrisy. Out preaching day and night that Protestants were deceivers going to Hell and 98% of the books in their store were written by Protestants.
I still believe strongly in Oneness. I believe in the three step plan of salvation. I believe in Biblical perfection as in the sermon on the mount.
To me the "standard of holiness" is to be obedient to all the teachings of Jesus Christ. Not a few outward changes in clothing.
