Re: The UPC is a dying movement!

Barb, very good post. I enjoyed reading it.

A word on landmarks. As Barb said, the UPCI uses this referrance to landmarks as a definition of sin, or holiness boundaries.

However, landmarks where not only used to define what a man owned, but also what he did not own. The importance of property markers is to define where my land stops and your land starts. God doesn't want us encroaching upon what he has given to another.

I think God makes a good point that, naturally, many have missed. We need to stop meddling with everyone elses inheritance, and concentrate on developing our own.

We had to change our sign years ago because we did not have a guitar player. Still don't have one.

Re: The UPC is a dying movement!

I wonder how many people who criticize the UPC pray for it to NOT die...unless of course you want it to die

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: The UPC is a dying movement!

There will always be a UPC. I doubt it is growing at the levels it once was. They have lost a lot of money over the past 5 years. The streamlining at HQ is evidence of that. There may need to be some adjustments. I wish them well.

About as much as they pray for those compromisers and backsliders to "succeed."

Re: The UPC is a dying movement!

This post with it concerns remind me a an area in Chapter 5;38,39 of the Book of Acts. We find one of the Pharisee named, Gamaliel. He states to the council which have arrested some of the apostles.
38, And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone; for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought.
39. But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.
Iam not memeber of the UPCI but I believe as long as there are people who are real and totally committed to Jesus then the Lords work will always go on. The whole thing is suspose to be the ministry of Jesus and not our ministry. We are blessed to be a part of it and have the honor of serving Him.

Exactly! Some are motivated by revenge for past "wrongs" (be they real or imagined...)
