Re: Sleepless in Texas
Take Your Medicine
Today's Scripture
"A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones" (Proverbs 17:22, AMP).
So many people today live with sickness, headaches, digestive problems, lack of energy and so much more because they don't have the joy they should. They aren't sleeping well at night and are living under so much stress and pressure. But the Bible tells us that when we are happy and joyful, it's like medicine to our bodies. One of the greatest stress relievers God has given us is the gift of laughter. It not only makes you feel better, but it actually releases healing throughout your system. In fact, medical science tells us that when people laugh, it boosts their immune system. It reduces blood pressure. People who laugh regularly are 40% less likely to have a heart attack than people that don't laugh regularly. Laughter triggers the right side of the brain, which helps release creativity so we can make better decisions. Laughter activates the body's natural tranquilizers that not only help us calm down, but it helps us sleep better.
If you need to rejuvenate your mind and body, it's time to take your medicine! Make time to laugh every single day. Don't take yourself so seriously. When you approach life with a happy, light-hearted attitude, you'll begin to rise higher and higher into the life of health and blessing the Lord has in store for you.
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of laughter. Help me to see the joy in all circumstances so I can receive Your inner healing. Show me ways to help those around me so together we can live in Your joy and strength. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Re: Sleepless in Texas
Last Saturday I had the privilege of meeting and talking with a missionary to China. She sent me this is the mail yesterday:
The Secret to Opening a Rose
Once a little boy was trying to open a flower bud. Under his persistent efforts the blossom fell apart in his hands. Exasperated, he looked at his mother and asked, "Why does the bud fall apart when I try to open it, but when God opens it the flower is beautiful?"...Then he answers his own question, "Oh, I know! When God opens the flower, he opens it from the inside."
That story demonstrates the difference between being conformed and being transformed. The former forces someone's personhood or a group's identity from the outside. The latter opens up the individual or the community from the inside. The difference in results is dramatic. When God opens persons from the inside, they can be uniquely gifted individuals they were created to be, revealing dimensions of God's grace in a particualr combination that no one else can. ---Marva J. Dawn, in "Morning by Morning" [Eerdmans].

Thank you Sis Falla! Last night I was awakened early and I began reading the book, "An Instrument in His Hands" by Dr. Elizabeth Vaughan [missionary to China] and it was awesome. It is a book for all those who are wanting to be used by God but for some reason haven't found your place. I have never read such an applicable book. Anyone who really would like to read this book - send me your address and I will buy you one.

Re: Sleepless in Texas
This past week I have been dreaming again, and God is speaking to me through His word. There have been times when I felt my prayers didn't get through the ceiling much left up to the heavens...but God reminded me right where He is, and where I am. He is in me, and I am in his hand.
Thank you Jesus!

Re: Sleepless in Texas
This am I talked with a friend who was going through things with her children. She was saying how that she could never win with hers. Her married daughter with several children asked her if she even loved them and wanted to spend time with them. She said that she saw more of her father his wife. My friend said she was dumbfounded. She was single, had raised the children alone with minimal child support and now was working to support her retirement and pay her house note.
She told her daughter [who is a stay at home mom] that she never called to say, "Would you like to stop over for breakfast before work, or Can I go over and clean your house for you because you are working so hard, or can you and I go to dinner and just talk?" My friend said, "The only time you want me is to ask me to babysit or ask me for money." And you ask me if I love you...do you love me?
We spoil our children and they still want more from us and then have the audacity to ask..."Do you love me."
Children these days. I only said, "Yes, I know the feeling." We took care of them when they were being raised but who will take care of us when we are no longer able to take care of ourselves?" This isn't what Solomon said would happen.
Blessings, Rhoni
