ANY culture whether it is religious (of any denomination), political, or customary to a heritage, that promotes the idea of unaccountability and absolute authority will eventually have these types crawling out of the woodwork since it is the perfect safe haven for their deeds.
And in this, it is no different then the Muslim community. Granted, I don't think the church has reached the point of allowing justifiable killings in order to keep the families honor yet.....
You know, I always wondered what the church would really be like if God struck those who lied to the Holy Ghost, or the church leadership about their involvement in predatory behavior. Annanias & Sapphira were killed instantly for lying.
Predators convince the victim that is they who wanted what they got from the perpetrator. But what they do is "GROOM" the person; make them feel special, like they really care about. them, give them gifts having investigated as to the person's likes and dislikes...then moved in for the conquest.
People such as this have ANTI-SOCIAL PERSONALITY DISORDER. Their conscience has been seared to the point they cannot distinguish between right and wrong and they break rules, don't work, slothful in paying bills, and run form responsibility. They have an attitude of 'entitlement' and think they deserve whatever it is they want regardless of whom they hurt or destroy.
These people are in our churches and we need to be able to identify and mark them. They should have no power in our assemblies.
This is a sore spot for me. The perpetrator probably was a victim at some point but I can't counsel this personality type. This is my bias.

Just everyone ought to remember the article isnt exactly unbiased. there is a LOT of background and a lot of facts that have been left out.

It is ultimately sad altogether. The one thing that has been said that is true beyond any challenge is that they all need much prayer at this point.

There is no doubt in my mind that there is much more to the story but I will say...there is no excuse for molesting children and though all need prayer, there is much more that needs to happen here.

What more would we need to know that would change our judgment or opinion of what actually happened to these girls?
Are they lying?
Is the story fabricated?
Why do your statements make it sound like there's some kind of sugar coating/justification in there somewhere???

I know. I was just trying to lighten it a little. My heart truly does break for these girls. This happens so much more than we really know.
And what hit me so hard was the way Ashlyn is so messed up now - even all these years later. Stuff like this screws up so many lives for so very long.
How well do I know the lifetime struggles of those who have been molested; some go into drugs, alcohol, stripping, homosexuality, and suicide. The repercussions of another's sin against another has lifelong and eternal consequences.
