And my wife thinks we have been married a long time. To her it may seem like a million years.

Husbands have a way of making it seem like that. My wife doesn't complain though, she just perseveres.

I've heard of several "old-timers" who met and dated for only a few months before getting married . . . then staying married until one or both passed away. Never heard of someone being married for 80 years . . . but I know several close to that.

Cool story . . . you're right, the PH should have run a story on this couple. However I think the picture of the family and living room could be an indication as to why they didn't do it.

Did anybody notice that they foster parented 200 children???!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't think that makes the top ten list of things designed to help you live to 100.

Seriously, they deserve all the awards they got and more!!!

My Grandpa & Grandma Kloepper were married 67 years. They died within a year of each other. I think she was just lost without him.

Some marriages start out with very little courting time and last forever, while others seem to take extra precaution and actually live together to make sure the are user friendly and all and still things fall apart. While I am not advocating living together before marriage, it seems that all this stuff about having to know the person from head to toe before making a commitment is hogwash. If they put more effort into the commitment part and less into making sure everything is perfect then it would last longer.
This story sure is amazing! It sounds like they were a very giving couple. That has to be a major factor in their success. Unselfishness goes a long way in a marriage.
