***Not that I wanted to add anything to your teaching, just wanted to share a testimony to confirm it!

I preached about the vision Peter saw and DOUBTED IN HIMSELF what it should mean. God told him to DOUBT NOTHING, although God did not yet reveal what it meant at that time. Trusting God is so important when he KEEPS US IN THE DARK. When we learn that the vision was about baptizing Gentiles, imagine what would have occurred had Peter doubted and blew it all?

thats a good point!

God must have had faith in Peter, that he was going to respond accordingly.

Doubting the promises of God. God delivered them from Egypt that they might enter the Promised Land and enjoy the blessings He had prepared for them. He had promised the land to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

He even reminded the people of His promise when they broke camp at Sinai and when they arrived at Kadesh. The promises of God was all they needed but they doubted His promies (His Word) and began to walk by sight instead of by faith.

The Israelites took their first bad step of doubt when they asked Moses to let them search out the land before they entered the land. Twelve spies, a group representing all the tribes were chosen and their trip of forty days took them 500 miles, from the wilderness of Zin in the south to the entrance of Hamath in the far north but they discovered nothing that God had not already told them.

At the end of this forty days ten of the spies came back with a twofold report. (a) The land is very fruitful-- as they brought back large clusters of grapes, pomegranates and figs. (b) The land is overrun by giants and the cities are large and fortified.

By the time they finished their report the people were beginning to catch the spirit of defeatism. Ten of the spies conclusion was that a conquest of the land was impossible. Only Caleb and Joshua recommended that they go in and possess the land.

When our eyes are upon ourselves and our circumstances we will lose perspective and say and do foolish and faithless things. Unbelief is serious because it challenges the character of God and rebels against the will of God. “But without faith it is impossible to please God” (Heb. 11:6).

I agree this is the gold nugget!

Personally I believe that is why He hates doubt and unbelief so much.

Num 20:12 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

Moses struck the rock twice instead of speaking to it.

Num 20:8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

Doubt cost Moses and Aaron a trip to Canaan land.

Thomas was almost left out all because of doubt.

And he surely hasn't lived down the reputation.

I'm not feeling very "deep" today. Sorry...

Good point!

I wonder how many of the others doubted but didn't speak it?
