If the conservatives and my prediction comes true and this is the beginning of the UPC moving away from the leglaism I believe a UPC church strong on Acts 2:38 but moving away from the extrabiblical legalism could experience a true revival and see a lot of people baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Holy Spirit.
As it stands now most UPCers are either born into it or from such desperate gross sin that the extra biblical leglaism is either something they have been around all their life or they come from lives so unstructured they welcome the over correction as a safety net that is a visible guage of their change and standing with God. Doesn't even require you to think!

Man, I hate it when I (as an ultracon) agree with a flaming liberal!

The idea that someone is going to toast in hell because of sleeve length, viewing moving pictures, or their nonconformity to precise dress code and hairstyle is not only unfriendly and appalling to those outside the UPC - many on the inside are also disgusted with it.
Whether these attitudes will be shed from the UPC anytime soon is anyones guess.

- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

My, my, my...this would have to be the most insightful post to date on AFF.

SH,
I just lost all my confidence in you!
CC1... the Spielberg of Apostolicism, promotes Sci-Fi of Pentecost and Stephen Hoover is his biggest fan! You paint every conservative believer as some kind of mind numbed robot who is afraid of reality and every conservative pastor as the leader of some borg. You have watched way too much Star Wars.
CC1,
Your rhetoric is worn and tired. Get a new spin on your old garbage if you want it to be paid attention to as having even a modicum of believability!

I just realized I am in the midst of a bunch of deluded and brain washed folks.
That is one of the most judgmental (not insightful) posts ever made on AFF. You and others like you amaze me. God is not pleased with your judgment of others motives or thoughts or behaviors. You all need to repent of your judmentalism and elitism and prejudice!
That this libelous rhetoric is not only tolerated but embraced is beyond my comprehension!

As to the topic of the thread, I do believe that as the UPC continues its shift to the left that some who have left will return. I don't think there will be any astronomical growth as a result nor do I think there will be some massive revival because the cons are gone. The same lazy liberals and moderates will be sitting next to the empty seats where the lazy cons used to sit and no one will be doing anything more than they already do to win the lost.
Do you honestly believe that the conservatives leaving the UPCI is going to cause some great upheaval in the hearts of the Libs and the Mods resulting a sudden desire to go win the lost now that the cons are gone?
