Comparing apples to oranges here. On one hand we have married people (mostly ministers) choosing to go to a political conference over a fishing trip or sightseeing family vacation.
On the other hand we have young people wanting to meet other single Pentecostal young people so they can find that special someone. Which means that they too will one day decide between General conference and a vacation rental in the mountains or some other vacation.
And without a stake or influence in the political ball game they are most likely to choose the fun vacation.
This is all true, but General Conference is the only official national religious holiday of the UPCI.
I see meetings like NAYC taking on more of a defining role in the UPC rather than only the traditional social emphasis.

Stephen....ran into your wife at GC and had a nice chat with her. Hope she relayed my greetings!
Yes indeed! Also, she met Pastor Poster and Raven.

LOL! There may be a lot of truth there! But I know couples who met at GC.
And the music at GC does tend to be selected for the "older" crowd. My wife has been asked to sing at GC several times- but never at NAYC! hmm...

You are so smart you should be an attorney. Did the mormon polygamy verdict surprize you?

Imagine if they went back to Louisville and had a central location....
Oh nevermind.
GC is always lower the year they have NAYC. The marathon offerings and $25 door charge could have skeered a few away from registrations too.

I really do wish we would have spent more of our precious dollars and spare time doing things with the kids rather than going to these functions. Fortunately, we have been doing just that for about the past 5-7 years.
