Wow, if I played the Piano it would be with "Stumbling fingers & other thumbs!"
My wife can play the piano somewhat, my youngest daughter Alanna is inclined to music as well.
I don't play by ear. Just read music. I play in church some, but it isn't something I would enjoy on a regular basis. Too much temperamental stuff going on in the music department. I like to relax when I'm involved with music.
Oh Ron...I love the oldies and classical as well. Thank goodness for my momma who gave me a wide range of music to enjoy.
I love Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata...oh my!! It has to be my favorite piece of all time...let me hear it and I am in another world!!
Last night, mom and I watched a PBS special, and at the end the orchestra and choir did Handel's Hallelujah Chorus...fabulous!!
Of course the oldies you are referring to may not be reaching that far back...

Two great minds here...I don't play at all and wish I did...
Do you just play the first movement, which is the most widely known, or do you play the others?! There are two more, as I recall...could be wrong here.
Maybe it is my age but I am starting to notice something, I have always liked Classical music, but I have never been to the VSO (Vancouver Symphony).
I was in my Barber and he is almost the exact age as myself, we grew up blocks apart, and he listens to an oldies station Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, and I noticed that some of them were good.
Am I telling on my age, or is ther others that like them?
Or are they just too worldly?
I LOVE Frank, Bing, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Jackie Gleason, -- all of them from that era.

It is three movements. The third, of course, being the hardest to master. I'm afraid I never tried to master it. I loved the second because of the minors. I love minors!
Here's the first. I haven't tried to embed YouTube so I only have the link.
