Bingo. I'm not against large families despite my many rants and raves IF they can afford it. But in nearly all cases, the types of families who DO have large quantities are the ones who cannot. Our old church had several families in this category. Oh, they say how the "Lord is providing", that is if the Lord provides in the form of tax "rebates" and offerings from the church.

Nothing wrong with tax rebates. However, offerings are another story. I wouldn't hold an occasional offering against them though unless they are constantly hard up for money and expecting others to come through for them.

I am referring to the constant "needs" that arise from simply having that many mouths in a house.
And to be quite honest, the tax "rebates" are the real stickler for me because they are no such thing. They are free money which is not based on any (IF any) paid in. I use our neighbors (again) as an example. They have 5 kids and have not paid a cent in federal or state income taxes in several years YET they get back over 6 grand in "rebates". We don't have any kids and our combined income tax has been within a couple hundred dollars of their "rebates"..... guess who is robbing Peter to pay Paul?

Unfortunately, "pyramid" based systems never work, which is what social security is. Lets say you have 20 kids and their supporting (for rounding purposed) 7 seasoned citizens. All that is doing is delaying the inevitable because it would then take 60 additional kids to support the first 20 when they retire.
And 180 to support them...... Etc.

I am talking in generalities here and NOT about this particular family. I've actually seen the TLC and Discovery Health specials that have been done and they seem to be remarkably stable, spiritual, and healthy!
Outside of the fact that this type of environment gives me a massive migraine within seconds, I am happy for them. (Just wish they wouldn't have named every kid with a name beginning with the letter "J"! grrrrrr.... a pet peeve of mine.)

That may be true, but no kids mean no money going in....I suspect that you will get some money from those who will be working and paying in at that time.

We have 7 and looking at this family makes ours seem small.

I'd have to start drinking, I think.

I believe the spirit that is anti-child is also anti-Christ.
There - I said it.
Now I'll sign off for the night!
