At first they spoke to him about playing the part of a preacher who baptizes one of the main characters in a river after they become a Christian.
When they came to the church to discuss it with him further they asked him if they could see the church batpistry.
While they were standing in the baptistry one of the production people that is Jewish exclaimed that he was feeling something he had never felt before.
Then as they looked out from the baptistry out to the sanctuary two of them looked at each other and said "are you thinking what I am thinking"? The other one said "yeah!" We could film the bapismal scene here but actually film a service and the character coming to the altar, etc.
KP said he told them he would play the preacher in the scene but only if he could do it his way and as you can imagine his way is going to be baptizing in the name of Jesus.
Like all things in Hollywood this is not a done deal. It might never happen or change drastically in editing even if it does.
However I think it is very intersting that there is even the possibility of a water baptism in the name of Jesus being featured as a scene in a prime time network drama.

Yes. They actually have musicals and dramas in the church also. People are playing characters that they are not in real life.
Rumor has it they have even had the nerve to have people lie and try to pass themselvles off as Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus in drama's around Christmas time! Shocking.
I think it is a great opportunity to provoke some thought among viewers if they see someone baptized in a way other than they have always seen.
Of course there is always the danger of being "borated". However this is a credible network drama and not some sicko HBO or Showtime show so perhaps that would not happen.
KP was approached because some of the production people have known him for years so I doubt they would ask him to do anything that would mock him or the church.

CCI a play is a play but to take someone into your baptistry and pretend to baptize him??????????????? To me it cheapens what we do. The scene itself will probably be so short that it will not get much attention this one small act.

Why we do it all the time, Jesus of Nazareth productions, the Asuza Street Play that circulated a while back.
I have no problem with it as long as it is accuracte protrayal of something that would have normally happened.

If I was a minister, I don't think I could pretend to baptize someone in Jesus name. Let an actor do it.

What credible network is this drama going to be on? Doesn't matter if it's not HBO or Showtime, any network will do whatever needs be to get ratings and have a story.
After the Borat, I'd be very careful about doing anything for a movie or show. And if I were a Pastor, I wouldn't use myself nor my church in the production simply because if indeed there is a negative stereotype given to his character or the character who is baptized, it wouldn't be good for the church or pastor.
I hope not a lot was put into what these people said they felt. They are, after all, in the acting business.....
