If you are looking for entertainment, I would recommend reading books, that is how I spend most of my free time.
FB for me is just a good way to have all my contacts in one place.

I did have a situation back during the 2008 election, where a good friend of mine unfriended me, blocked me and stopped contact with me because I questioned his support and vote for Obama. His brother also unfriended me, after blasting me on FB, suggesting I was racist. That hurt me a lot. Me, him and his brother had been really close for years before then. We got together a lot to jam and even helped each other out with different church youth events. He's a phenomenal keyboard player. His brother was an incredible drummer. I haven't had contact with any of them since 2008. They've been renting a building for church services a block from where I live. I keep wanting to go by there, but the blowup was pretty bad.
I intentionally keep my friend list limited to those I actually know and with whom I am friends. I don't accept requests from co-workers or others I don't really know.
As I said before, I don't post much at all anymore. It's mostly for event notices and a couple family groups we've created. I also don't use the FB apps, I just use the website.

I was late coming to FB (skipped the MySpace craze completely) but it has been quite a blessing to me. I have reconnected with friends from my childhood in Alaska over 40 years ago, college friends from 40 years ago, and on and on.
My family have typically not been letter writers but FB makes it easy to keep up with friends and family. I have cousins, aunts, etc that FB allows me to easily keep in touch with.

I had the same experience. I was foolish enough to post that I was Conservative and had several people block me. I guess they were not friends after all.
