When my friend was getting ready to fly to FL to the Mayo Clinic, I told him I would keep him in prayer. He asked me to pray for the nurses, Drs and other patients he would be meeting while there. He told me he wanted God to use his being at the clinic to meet others and talk to them about God and the hope we have in Him. He believes that if healing doesn't come, that his illness will lead him to speak to others about God.
My family member with the baby in the hospital has witnessed to every nurse and Dr she meets. They had their small town newspaper call and interview them for a story they wrote.
I have 3-year old twins and a nine year old. I couldn't imagine going through what she is going through. And to still have a smile and not be angry or bitter.

Re: Faith, Job and When God Stands Idly By
Unless a miracle happens, the baby is scheduled for a tracheotomy tomorrow. This means another few months in the hospital and then when they can finally go home, they will have to hire an in-home nurse for at least 18 hours a day, seven days a week. It will require them to find a new home to rent, as their current home is very small.
Also, my friend almost died Sunday. He had a cluster of seizures, during which he stopped breathing and had to be rushed to the hospital. He had another cluster of seizures yesterday, but fortunately didn't need to be hospitalized again. He will be returning to the Mayo Clinic for more tests soon.
Very frustrating. Trying to believe for a miracle, but losing faith. I'm resigned to simply asking for comfort, strength and encouragement rather than healing or a miracle.

Re: Faith, Job and When God Stands Idly By
"Even If"
They say sometimes you win some
Sometimes you lose some
And right now, right now I'm losing bad
I've stood on this stage night after night
Reminding the broken it'll be alright
But right now, oh right now I just can't
It's easy to sing
When there's nothing to bring me down
But what will I say
When I'm held to the flame
Like I am right now
I know You're able and I know You can
Save through the fire with Your mighty hand
But even if You don't
My hope is You alone
They say it only takes a little faith
To move a mountain
Good thing
A little faith is all I have right now
But God, when You choose
To leave mountains unmovable
Give me the strength to be able to sing
It is well with my soul
I know You're able and I know You can
Save through the fire with Your mighty hand
But even if You don't
My hope is You alone
I know the sorrow, and I know the hurt
Would all go away if You'd just say the word
But even if You don't
My hope is You alone
You've been faithful, You've been good
All of my days
Jesus, I will cling to You
Come what may
‘Cause I know You're able
I know You can
I know You're able and I know You can
Save through the fire with Your mighty hand
But even if You don't
My hope is You alone
I know the sorrow, and I know the hurt
Would all go away if You'd just say the word
But even if You don't
My hope is You alone
It is well with my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul

Re: Faith, Job and When God Stands Idly By
The tracheotomy surgery was a success. The baby is off the paralytic and awake for the first time since Mother's Day. Breathing and CO2 levels are good. They took a video of my niece's husband talking to the baby and the baby smiling. Once approved, they will be leaving the children's hospital and fly to another hospital in another state, where they'll be for a couple more months before going home.
