Elder Howard is a tremendous man of God. He is independent. FPC is just a church name not an organization. There are many churches in and independent of organizations that have that name.

He use to hold a office in the UPC. But I figured after leaving the UPC we weren't going back into a organization. So thanks for answering that question for me.

I listened to this message earlier. There was some stuff about Holiness standards that was said, but thats half the story apparently. He says some powerful stuff as far as our views on the New Birth. I think what he said was spot on, about that.

It's more classic Elder Westberg no doubt!

Bro. Westberg was a great man of God. He was a product of his times and many today would consider him a "hard" man.
And he is not the one who caused the "rift".
The resolution was a reaction to those who were not following basic issues of holiness.
Many pastors had become frustrated with those who wanted to be called UPC, but did not want to teach or practice the basic tenets believed by the UPC.
As most "lines in the sand" some who were good men were caught on the "wrong" side.
However, I do not know of any who left that still teach the same as they did then.
And almost all who left also lost their children to false doctrine.

Good bit of information! I like Elder Westberg I can identify with his testimony.
I think the downfall happened to a lot that even stayed, even that are still in the UPC. It reminds me of a good sermon by Elder Phil White at Heritage conference. This one was good "The Dredge and the Drift". He talks about that. This a awesome message if you've never heard it. But he starts speaking about it at 35:50 in.

He talks about how none of the Giants of Pentecosts sons in the gospel, still preach what their spiritual fathers preached but Elder Westberg was the only one he could name. Which I take he was speaking of Elder Nathan Dudley, who is also a great man of God.

I take it that was meant to be the ultimate compliment to Westberg. It's most always the case the later generations don't preach the same man-made standards or interpretations. Not necessarily a bad thing.
