Re: a need for the street children

I have been to shanty towns in Guatemala City. I have stayed in Mayan villages up in the mountains.

Every American should visit places like that. It is very sad.

We have extreme poverty here in the United States. You mentioned in another thread that in the Dells you have poor people? What do you consider poor people?

Re: a need for the street children

I think the average annual income for Adams County is 30k.

Over the years, I have given lots of kids rides to church who lived in substandard housing. Trailers that had boarded up windows. Kids that had dysfunctional families. Drug and alcohol abuse.

The concept of birthparents still together in a clean house and regular meals and emotionally stable environments seems to be quite rare.

I had students who never met their birthfather. Kids who did not learn to drive because their parents car was not functional enough to use for a DMV road test.

Kids who lived with their grandparents because mom and dad were not out of jail long enough to raise the kids.

Rural poverty in Wisconsin is not as bad as in Guatemala City. But it is bad enough to make a person weep.
