The South is still the last bastion of conservatism. You obviously did not read the original post of the thread.

You must like the fact then that the States of the Union were reduced to nothing more than large counties of a unitary state with no choice in their future. As the Union goes they all go. That never was meant to be and we have Lincoln to thank for it. While incidentally eliminating one injustice, he created thousands more.

The funny thing is that we didnt hear the South raising a fuss when the KKK adopted the flag. Why not? Why are you guys raising more of a fuss now?

To me it sets a bad precedent to let other people tell you what your flag stands for.

Example, let's go to ISIS and ask them what the United States flag stands for. I think they might skew it a little bit.

Also the argument that the KKK uses the confederate battle flag is very poor. Every documentary I have seen on the KKK they are much more fond of waving the American flag. So by their logic lets outlaw the American flag because since the KKK uses it, it is a symbol of hate and racism.

OK I get it now seems perfectly logical to me.

Its not the state or country flag we are talking about. Thats the funny thing about all this. You have the rights to fly it outside your house. It shouldnt be on any state capitol building. Especially flying high above the state and country flags.

Not gonna get into a huge discussion about this. But from what I understand the flag in question was apart of a civil war memorial on state grounds.

Where I live they are actively talking about cleansing all civil war memorials that mention anything about the confederacy. What are they going to do with 10,000 pound monuments? I guess hide them. When we start rewriting history we come upon a huge problem. We can't even have a civil conversation about the Civil War without demonizing our opponents. To me this is sad. I thought America is where ideas and conversations were encouraged.

As far as the confederate soldiers that died in the Civil War, love em or hate em, are we really going to forget them? Isn't this a teachable moment for our young people?

Oh and one last thing. Regardless of what everybody thinks, confederate soldiers for the most part were NOT fighting for slavery. This is just not true. Even today you can buy thier wartime diary's on kindle. It might surprise you what you will find.
