So here's what the IFB guy said when I mentioned the Comma Johanneum:
It has to do with an age old debate on the placement of a comma in 1 John. If I am understanding you correctly, you believe that the KJ is the best we have, but is subject to infallibility because of the translating of the manuscripts into various language, namely English. In the book I recommended to you “A Testimony Founded For Ever” by Dr. Sightler, Dr. SIghtler covers in detail how the translation process occurred for the KJB and the manuscripts used. It is a good book worth your time and investment.
There are many Christians today that are being taught in Bible Colleges, and other places that no translation is infallible. But are being taught to “prefer” or “use” the KJ Bible, but do not “believe” it to be the infallible word of God. This, I believe, has resulted in many Christians today that “use” the KJ Bible more as a reference book than “believing” the KJ Bible to be the Word of God. This doctrine takes many down a path further away from the Bible. Somewhere along the way, someone has taught you this perspective. It sounds good, and to many makes sense. But a much deeper study is important. Believe it or not, at one time, many years ago, I believed that the KJ Bible was the “best we had”. But I am very thankful, that I went from “preferring”, to “believing”. If you go back to church history and the translators of the KJ Bible, they believed every word. I believe, that the King James Bible is the preserved and infallible words of God. It doesn’t just contain the word of God, it “IS” the word of God. It’s not just “preferred”, I believe it to be God’s Word. I don’t have the time to get into a lot of detail but below are a few reasons that I hope you will consider.
1. When you take the perspective that the Bible is fallible, then you are in essence, taking the position that the Bible “contains” the word of God, but is subject to our determination of what is true and what is not. This is dangerous to put the burden of truth in our court. Eventually, we decide what is truth and what is not. This is already being done in a lot of religious circles.
[Please note that I never said that the Bible is fallible. And I never said that truth is up for debate. I just said that the KJV contains verses that literally are not supposed to be there. -amh]
2. We have a promise in the Bible that God would “preserve” His Word.
Psalm 12:-6-7. We cannot say that “All” translations are God’s word, because they say different things and God is not the author of confusion. If God promised to preserve His Word which Book is it? I submit that God has “preserved” His word in the authorized version, the KJB.
3. If you look at the individuals that translated the KJ Bible, they “believed” they were handling the very word of God. Every word was important. Even as they translated into English, words that had to be added for the language change were italicized. (read the book I recommended, it covers this topic as well)

4. The KJ Bible has stood the test of time. 400 years people have used it most of which, those that used it believed it to be the word of God. Only in modern day, have we added many versions and various theories of its dependability and this idea of preference or use over believing it to be the preserved word of God.
There are many reasons, but time fails me to get exhaustive on this. Please consider reading the book I recommended, it’s a good detailed start.
[No. -amh] Something also to consider. Many people consider that only the original writings were inspired. That somehow we have lost infallibility over the many years and many translations. But the true originals are in Heaven.
Psalm 119:89. God inspired the Word of GOD and preserved it for us to today for the English speaking people. The King James Bible is God’s Word.
