If you are buying a new product Best Buy is fine. I don't plan on buying open box items from them or using the Geek Squad!
I do huge amounts of research and comparison shopping before buying and usually that means I buy major purchases online.
In the case of a new notebook computer though BB had absolutely the best price for the feature by about two hundred bucks.
A couple of other places were close and one matched it BUT with rebates you had to mail off and wait three months for your money. BB's was an instant rebate off at time of purchase.

Yup. That is why the basic computers they sell with only 512 mb RAM only have VISTA basic. My notebook would barely run at that. I upgraded to 2 gigs immediately.
I paid $62.00 per stick of gig about two months ago and now it is on sale online for $38.00 or $42 bucks delivered!

You should try to get a Dell with an AMD Turion X2 processor, atleast 1 GB of RAM, and see if you can get Windows XP instead of Windows Vista, because Vista has too many bugs in it. In about 2 years, you should be able to get Vista.

Why the AMD dual core processor over an Intel one?
I have almost always purchased Dell computers but about two months ago when I bought they were two hundred bucks higher with the same stuff as the Tobshiba I bought at Best Buy.

3 terms here are VERY important

Rhoni does not need grief of saving a few hundred dollars over being able to pick up the phone and say "it is broke, please arrange to repair it." One of our producers has a Dell. They shipped him by FedEx a new one when his broke.
With a dock and a 22 inch wide flat screen monitor he has a nice setup.

Yep, that's why I have a Dell. I have a new keyboard that came in two days and is working great.

A AMD dual core processor is faster than a Intel one running at a faster speed. They are the best and I ought to know, because I have never had any problems with AMD's but Intel's are too slow for me.
