Re: Sage Counsel from the Holy Spirit

hmm. Shazeep wonders if this is not only scratching the surface; but as we Christians seem to mostly use the Holy Spirit for guidance on inane, material desires, like we pray to God like He was Santa Claus, I'm not sure the obv...what should be the obvious, but will more likely remain the obscure and/or unapproachable, can even be discussed. But here goes.

It may indeed be the Holy Spirit providing what might be interpreted as 'contradictory' in many matters, as there is more than one way to skin a cat. What is really going on in these instances may be that God could care less how you, as a group, do _______, but is mostly interested in who will recognize what the Holy Spirit really represents, which is Love. A good example of this was presented recently, wherein a young man felt led to do ________, and i saw the obvious flaw in the 'logic' immediately--and then shut up, because the Holy Spirit desired that this guy understand why his logic was going to get him unraveled, and this would likely not have happened had i spoke up and 'helped' him.

Perhaps you can explain why the promise that the Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth isn't utterly pointless.

And there is a question waiting for you in the dating a divorced man thread.

The Holy Spirit may tell what "appears" to be contradictory things to individuals. Only God knows all the implications of a given circumstance. And every individual's circumstance can often be different.

Excellent point.

Re: Sage Counsel from the Holy Spirit

Ultimately the Spirit will never contradict Scripture. However, it might challenge a current interpretation of Scripture. The Spirit may also guide people differently in various situations because situations are often different.

When I don't understand a question, I ask a superior mind.
