Is Avast up to date?
Try booting into Safe Mode, update Malwarebytes and Spybot and run both in safe mode
|
By pages, I meant separate tabs opened. The websites don't load on the first try. I thought it was worse if you get re-directed, which I haven't. Thus far, the loading problems have cut back a lot, but still having some problems with it.
Yes, Avast is updated. I always keep everything updated. I am wondering why my Avast was disabled under Add-ons. How does that happen?
And while it was disabled, it is updating on a regular basis not giving me a clue that I even need to check on that in my Tools. The only reason I noticed is that my AdBlock appeared to be removed and I was trying to get that back up. Sorry, to mention that here. LOL!
I already tried rebooting in Safe Mode and had updated my Malware and Spybot previously.

Something that really ticked me off a couple of weeks ago. My sister was wanting me to meet her somewhere and wanted me to find out the driving distance. I went to MapQuest to put in the information and what do you know? I opened my email account and there is MapQuest. How in the world did they get my email address from using their website?!!!
AND I have an account at Amazon and they are sending me info via my email, addressing me by my user name on this forum - Pressing-On!

Maybe there was a browser update

The reason they say that isn't that it's not as effective in finding and removing but that it won't protect you from infections. It's a post infection tool

They don't. Was it an email from mapquest or an advertsement?

I recommend changing ALL your passwords. Don't do any banking or purchases using this PC.
Someone may be remote accessing it.
What Virus did Malwarebytes or Spybot find?
SuperantiSpyware is recommended by a lot of the tech guys on the help forums like bleepingcomputer
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/down...dows/security/
BTW what browser?

Okay, that makes sense.

I didn't open the email, but it said MapQuest, so I assumed it was from them.

I just changed them all before this happened. Ugh! Do you know how many passwords I have? Ugh! I don't have another computer to use to change my banking password. I only use one of my banks to pay bills online. I don't access my other bank from my computer - ever.

NSIS:OneClick-[PUP]
Win 32:downloader-UHI [PUP]
Win 32: Malware-gen
Well, I already had two that I paid for and then Spybot. If that isn't enough.... But, yes, I did download SuperantiSpyware and ran the check
Firefox

Is this complete information on checking for remote accessing? I don't think I would know if anything was different.

Re: Computer problems
Prax,
Do you know what this means in Task Manager? These are the only two that don't allow you to access the file information.
csrss.exe
attiedxx.exe

Atiedxx or attiedxx?
Csrss is normal windows process
The second one is related to AMD's ATI graphics.
If you really want to be sure I would check a forum like bleepingcomputers or Techspot where an expert will walk you through stuff. They may ask you to download Hijackthis and post a log.
Are you sure you never registered a user name at Amazon?

Re: Computer problems
Is your firewall on?
You can check for open ports here
https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
That wiki on remote access is pretty on target.

Thanks, I thought that it was. Everything else checks out to be necessary in Task Manager. At least I can identify what everything else is related to - Dell, Microsoft, etc.

Thanks for the links. I will check it out in more detail later today or tomorrow.

No, I couldn't have because, I use my credit card and it has to match when I order something.
I also went to My Computer, System Properties, Remote Settings and unchecked "Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer".
