I read when he signed the bill which says congress must be notified 30 days prior to any Gitmo transfer, he wrote a signing statement saying he didn't believe that was constitutional and impeded his role as commander in chief.... So the WH and Dems are saying he did not break the law.
Since when did the constitution allow presidents to write in the margins that they wouldn't follow certain parts of a bill they didn't like? I thought the only recourse was veto.
Bush did the same thing on a few bills, IIRC.
It's not right.

Other soldiers DIED looking for this guy. This guy leaves/deserts and then soldiers are sent to look for him. Some die. Then the government tells everybody not to talk about it. COVER UP!!!

Well, at least they patted him down before allowing him into the helicopter. Even though probably routine, it does show they weren't that trusting of him. They probably know a lot more than we do about the guy.

Impeachment and Coups
Republicans who beat the drum for impeachment are only playing to the Democrats’ hand.
Instead, ride the storm, highlight the offense, and after we have the Senate and House recreate the Iran-Contra hearings. Remind the Democrats of Congress’s power of oversight. There will not be, even if the GOP wins in November, enough votes to convict the President in an impeachment trial. But by God we can restore the military’s faith in civilian rule and uncover exactly why this President seems so intent to treat terrorists in Afghanistan better than conservatives in America.
